An experienced fixed income derivatives specialist is sought to play an active role in the fixed income decision-making process and, in particular, will highlight opportunities to enhance implementation of investment views through the use of derivative strategies. Reporting to the Head of Fixed Income, they will play a key part in the development and management of absolute return mandates and Liability Driven Investments (LDI). This will require them to interact with clients and consultants on a regular basis in order to understand and meet their needs. In addition, they will be required to raise the level of derivatives knowledge amongst their colleagues and ensure that sufficient processes, systems and documentation are in place to manage derivative exposure effectively. The appointed person will be judged on their success in extending the use of derivatives within our fixed income investment process, their role in attracting new business and the performance of their derivative recommendations. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years’ practical derivatives experience within a recognised investment management firm or investment bank. Having a first class academic background they will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the valuation and trading of derivative contracts and a sound knowledge of the legal documentation required. Their experience will preferably encompass a variety of different instruments including interest rate swaps, credit default swaps, and interest rate and currency futures and options. Exceptional analytical ability combined with a creative, consultative and intellectually energetic approach will be required. In particular they should have strong communications skills, written and oral, and must be a committed team player.
